About SPRAVATO® Treatment

SPRAVATO® is a nasal spray made from esketamine. It works differently from most oral antidepressants. It is an option for adults whose depression has not improved enough after trying other antidepressants.

You give yourself the nasal spray in our office while a member of our team watches. You do not take SPRAVATO® home.

Who May Be a Candidate

A Rapha Health provider will review your history, current medications, and health conditions to decide if SPRAVATO® is a safe choice for you.

What to Expect

Treatment Schedule

Treatment usually starts twice a week. After about a month, it often moves to once a week. Later, your provider may adjust it to once a week or every other week, depending on how you respond.

Insurance

Many insurance plans cover SPRAVATO®, and most require prior authorization. Our team will check your benefits and handle the authorization process with your insurance before you begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is SPRAVATO® the same as ketamine?

No. SPRAVATO® contains esketamine, which is related to ketamine. It is an FDA-approved nasal spray with its own safety program and is given only in certified healthcare settings.

Do I have to stop my current antidepressant?

Not necessarily. SPRAVATO® can be used with an oral antidepressant or, for treatment-resistant depression, on its own. Your provider will discuss what is right for you.

Can I keep my own therapist?

Yes. You can keep your current therapist and still receive treatment at Rapha Health.
